Peacefully on Monday, December 17, 2018, Stan Morisseau passed away with family by his side at Douglas Campbell Lodge at the age of 85 years.
Stan will be lovingly remembered by the mother of his children Gibi Morisseau (nee Rey); children Shelley-Lou Simon, Dale (Sandy) Morisseau and Dean (Denise) Morisseau; grandchildren Megan (Scott), Joshua, Sheyenne, Braydon, Adam, Cody, Shelby, Hailee and Erin; great-granddaughter Maia; siblings Mark (Anne), Verna, Cliff (Theresa), Garry (Helga), Margie (Harry), Rosella and Clarence; son-in-law Dusty; numerous nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.
He was predeceased by his parents Mark and Annie, siblings Georgette (Alan) and Louis (Diane); brother-in-law Bob.
Stan was born at the farm at his parents place in Haywood, MB on December 14, 1933. His greatest loves were his family and music. He was very gifted and able to play many instruments. Throughout the years he played in bands with his brothers Cliff, Garry, nephew Mark, Demers orchestra, John Dietrich and many other musicians too numerous to mention.
He had many hobbies, fishing, watching hockey, Bingo, gardening, playing cards, building furniture and other things with wood. You would always see him walking around from one end of town to the other and talking to people along the way. He was a very friendly person with a big smile on his face and loved telling jokes.
Campbell Soup company was a place he was employed at for 25 years. Many weekends he would play at various places for weddings, socials and old time dances. He also was a carpenter and helped build the houses at Southport and grain elevators in Manitoba and Saskatchewan. In his later years he enjoyed going to Herman Prior and washing dishes.
He will be greatly missed by all his family and friends.
A celebration of Stan's life will take place at McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel, Portage la Prairie, MB on Saturday, December 22, 2018 at 11:00 am, led by Megan Eaton. Interment will take place at Evergreen Memorial Gardens.
If friends so desire, donations in memory of Stan may be made to Douglas Campbell Lodge Foundation, c/o Portage District General Hospital, 150-9th St.SE, Portage la Prairie, MB, R1N 3T6.
