Fredda Fraser passed away on Thursday, October 21, 2021, at Third Crossing Manor in Gladstone, MB at the age of 100 years.
She was predeceased by her husband Charles Robert Fraser (1957); parents Fred and May Armstrong; sisters Frances King and Florence Lucas; brothers-in-law Murray Fraser, Norman King and Geoff Lucas and sister-in-law Ruth Fraser. Fredda is survived by her son Douglas (Phyllis) Fraser and daughter Barbara (Gerry) Gillespie; grandchildren Jeff (Charla), Gavin (Shayla), Devon (Anna) and Chelsea (Cole); great grandsons Jai, Jager, Carter and Cade; sister-in-law Nora Fraser and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
Fredda was born in Mortlach, SK in 1920. She graduated as a registered nurse from Winnipeg Children’s Hospital in 1944 and began working in the Medical Treatment Room and Pharmacy at MDC, then continuing her career as the operating room supervisor at the Portage District General Hospital for over 20 years until she retired in 1983.
A celebration of Fredda’s life will be held at Trinity United Church on Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at 1:00 pm with Rev. Julie Baker officiating. Due to covid restrictions, proof of vaccination will be required to attend.
As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made in Fredda’s memory to Trinity United Church, 15 Tupper Street S, Portage la Prairie, MB R1N 1W7 or the Portage District General Hospital Foundation, 524 – 5th St.SE, Portage la Prairie, MB, R1N 3A8.
