Yvonne enjoyed a life well lived with friends and family to support her with her cerebral palsy. She loved being employed at “ The Workshop” at Mountain Industries, Norte Dame Mb. It was there she met special friends such as Amy Chapman, Nichole Dubois, and Gilbert Bosch, and s he was very fond of one particular co-worker Justin Dupasquier. She spent many years at St. Claude Residence where she met many friends like Jeannien, Judy, Betty, Mary and Donald; and staff Jodi Sigurdson, Marion, Wendy, Mae, Erlie, Gloria, Wanda, Lynn, Ashley, Lorie, Diane, Teresa, Tracy, Devon, Ally, Jared and Val Olson staff at “ The Workshop” and Shelley Dubois
In her youth, family affectionately remembers Yvonne as a mischievous prankster, she liked to tease and we shared a lot of laughter with her. Yvonne is our precious sister who carried a pure and gentle spirit and at times she held that stubborn determination in a good way. She enjoyed listening to music, spending time with family, kicking back and watching tv, bowling and camping. When we took her to powwows she would celebrate to the fullest, dancing and joining in with the dancers. Yvonne participated in the Special Olympics and was very proud of this. She loved animals, especially baby cats.
We have a lot of wonderful cherished memories of Yvonne, she taught us to appreciate life, to be kind, she held no hate, nor resentment in her heart, the concept of forgiveness could never cross her mind and she loved everyone unconditionally. It was always heartwarming to be near Yvonne, every time she seen us it was like we made her day; because it made our day too. She was always excited and enthusiastic to see those she loved.
One time as a young child we took her to the Long Plain Powwow, there was a powwow special going on. The song started and Bombom went out to the middle of the arbour and started to dance, the dancers followed behind her. As she lead the dancers, the Powwow MC, noticed and offered kind words about individuals with disabilities and how special and sacred they are. Our hearts just shined, we were so proud of her. This is one of many treasured memories we carry in our hearts. The life Yvonne shared with us, brought together so many special moments. These fond memories will put a smile in our hearts as we heal our sorrows.
