On the morning of August 23rd with his family by his side Les passed away gently with the aid of a wonderful, sensitive team from Maid (Dying with Dignity).
A guiding force for Les was Nature, he had a tremendous lust for life. Les was a creative builder and built every home the family lived in. As a young man he and his father purchased the Sioux Narrows Lodge which they renovated and managed for years.
Then Les, Edie and family lived in Portage la Prairie for a number of years, where he managed the Coop lumber yard. He was a member of the Rotary club and was involved with Community Housing Projects.
In the early 60's Les and family moved to Riding Mountain National Park. Les bought in on the Mooswa Resort and was instrumental in turning it into a popular full scale holiday destination.
Les and Edie had four children, Greg (Linda), Juanita, Terry (Craig) and Karen (Mel), five grandchildren, Amiya, Kit, Shayne, Lauren and Colin, as well as five great grandchildren.
At Les's request an ash ceremony will take place with his immediate family at a later date.
Thank you all for your friendship and support over his 95 years!!
His wish would be any donation or other support that would go towards the health and betterment of our planet.
A tree will be planted in memory and cared for by McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel. www.mckenziesportagefuneralchapel.com
