William "Bill" Moffat

On Sunday, February 17, 2019, at the Portage District General Hospital, Bill Moffat of Portage la Prairie, passed away peacefully after a brief battle with cancer at the age of 78 years.

Bill will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by brothers and sisters: Ted (Margaret), Joyce Thurston, Eileen Enevoldson, Harold (Carole), Shirley Munro, Doris (Charles) Baksh, Allan (Bev) and Doug (Linda), sister-in-law, Bertha Moffat, several nieces and nephews and their families. Bill will also be missed by his many friends.

Bill was predeceased by his parents, Matthew and Margaret, brother Stan, brother Keith, sister Myrle Wilson, brothers-in-law, Ray Thurston, Jack Enevoldson, Harvey Munro and Mel Wilson.

Bill was born July 10, 1940 in Portage la Prairie and grew up on the family farm south of Portage and attended Salem school. Over the years, Bill worked for Forsythe’s Construction, Meseyton Construction and Burns Meats. Bill then made the move to St. Paul, Alberta to continue his career in the construction industry. He made his home in St. Paul but travelled to Fort McMurray to work.

Bill retired back to Portage and enjoyed hunting, fishing, being closer to family and his greatest joy was growing and tending to his vegetable garden.

Funeral service will be held at McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel on Saturday, February 23, 2019 at 1:00 p.m., with viewing prior to service. Interment will take place at Evergreen Memorial Gardens.
