Wayne Harry DeLong

With love and gratitude for the husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend that he was, we share news of the passing of Wayne DeLong on February 12, 2025. He left peacefully (but with one last joke for his son) surrounded by the loving presence of his family and the thoughts of his sisters and friends.

"Not good byes, just good memories". He leaves to celebrate these memories his wife of almost 47 years, Joan DeLong (who he fondly called 'Mom'); Oldest Daughter Amanda, his treasured son-in- law Randy and favourite grandsons Rydan and Kadyn; his Number One Son Christopher and special/sassy little granddaughter Brooklyn; cherished Youngest 'Babiss' Stephanie and 'Grandpas Girlie' Thea; his beloved sisters Pat, Gwen, Brenda, Judy and their families along with so many wonderful friends and golf buddies.

Wayne was thankful for his working years, first with McCain Foods and then touring the fields at Shilo Farms for The Johnson's.

When he wasn't checking potato fields, enjoying his man-cave or watching a ball game in his lazy boy, you could find him telling stories on the golf course, and travelling wherever the wind blew him... usually somewhere with a golf course.

Wayne loved a good time and was allergic to tears (especially his girls tears) so he invites us all to enjoy a Steak, Spud, Bud (and whisky) on him, to remember the good times. One last round on Wayne at the Portage Legion February 22, 2025, from 1-4 pm. A Tribute to Wayne will take place at 1pm; please bring your stories and memories to share. In lieu of flowers, Wayne would prefer donations made in his name to G6 at HSC and the nurses who made all the difference in his final days. Despite his short stay (and tears allergy), there was not a dry eye in the house. Alternately, donations can be made to St. Boniface Hospital, or a charity of your choice.
