Walter Edward Richards

Peacefully on November 12, 2012, Walter Richards passed away at Douglas Campbell Lodge at the age of 84 years.

Walter was predeceased by his wife Marjorie; parents Fred and Rose Richards and sister Emily Plaseski. He will be lovingly remembered by his son Ted (Sharon) Richards and their family Jason (Tyra, Josh and Kayli) and Jennifer & Wes Wolfe (Quentin and Lukas); son Robert (Kim) Richards and their family Shane & Sarah (Ivy and Peyton) and Michelle & Brett (Maxim); son Scott (Deborah) Richards and their family Tyler and Drew; sister Dint Thom; brothers-in-law Bob Hepner and David Hepner; sister-in-law Betty Fleury; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Walter grew up in Macdonald and eventually moved to Portage la Prairie where he married Marjorie and started a family. He soon took up a career as a Psychiatric Nurse at M.D.C., which he held for 32 years. Over the years he enjoyed spending time with family and friends by playing cards and going to dances. Walter had many hobbies which included hunting, golfing, playing pool and especially fishing, playing darts and looking after his garden.

Dad and Grandpa will be sadly missed.

A special thanks to the nurses at Douglas Campbell Lodge for their care and compassion.

A private family service will take place. He will be laid to rest at Evergreen Memorial Gardens.

As expressions of sympathy, if friends wish, donations may be made in Walter's memory to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, 21 Royal Road S., Portage la Prairie, MB, R1N 1T8 or to a charity of one's choice.
