Lovingly remembered by her children Ron (Rhoda) Gamble, of Prince George, Louise Yazdani of Ottawa, Lloyd (Mary-Lynn) Gamble of Ottawa, John (Angela) Gamble of Rankin Inlet, Susan (Ralph) Swartz of Brandon and Dan (Julia) Gamble of London (Wallacetown); Grandchildren Tyson, Tyrone, Rory, Laili, Nabil, Nuri, Kaila, Nelson, Roxanne, Bryanna, Michael; Great grandchildren Brendan, Chloe, Chandler, Nia, Thida, Liam, Lochlan, Whisper, Axel, Donald James, DJ jr. and Dameon; Siblings Evelyn, Joyce, Jim, Shirley, Glen, Dale and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Violet grew up at McCreary, Laurier, Brandon and Carberry. She met and married (March 31, 1942), her loving husband James Henry (Harry) Gamble at Carberry, Manitoba, just prior to his going overseas (WW2). After his return (1945) and release from Deer Lodge Hospital, the two of them lived and worked in Portage la Prairie, where they raised their six children. Violet, for the most part, was a stay at home Mom and caregiver. Upon Harry’s retirement, Violet and Harry moved to Winnipeg where Violet remained after Harry’s death for 20 years. When Violet was in need of assistance, she first reluctantly moved to Ottawa, then Brandon to be near family. Violet loved all her family: sons and daughters, grandchildren and great grandchildren, brothers and sisters, her in-laws, nieces and nephews and friends. With God’s blessing she goes to be with her beloved husband.

A service to celebrate Vi’s life will be held on Wednesday, October 28, 2015 at 11:00 AM in the First Presbyterian Church, Portage la Prairie with Reverend John Zondag officiating. Interment will follow (in the family plot) at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. A reception will follow after interment in the basement of the Presbyterian Church, put on by the Women’s Guild.

As expressions of sympathy, if friends or relatives so wish, donations may be made in Violet’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada, 108- B Saskatchewan Ave. E, Portage la Prairie, MB, R1N 0L1 .
