With sadness we announce Vincent Smoke began his journey to the spirit world on December 26, 2023 at his residence at the age of 59 years.

Vince will be lovingly remembered by his friend Carolyn Longclaws of Long Plain, children Nathan Peters (Tasey Roulette) of Long Plain, Geraldine Smoke of Portage la Prairie, Wyatt Smoke of Long Plain, Kaitlynn Smoke and Laci Smoke both of Portage la Prairie, father Clayton Smoke of Portage la Prairie, siblings Kelly Smoke of Dakota Tipi, Charlene Smoke and Heather Smoke both of Portage la Prairie, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Vince was predeceased by his mother Geraldine Smoke, brother Leroy Smoke, brother-in-law Allan Peters, nephews Wade Smoke and Trent Gladue, cousin Sheila Gladue, Connie Amyotte, Clements Longclaws and Vivian Longclaws.

Vince was educated in Portage la Prairie, and graduated form Yellowquill College. He was employed in fields such as housing, health, counselling and security during his life.

Vincent respected other religions and faiths. He practiced the traditional way of life. He was a sundancer and attended ceremonies before his health started deteriorating. He just recently accepted God as his Saviour. Vincent loved his children unconditionally. He loved the pets in his home, and would babysit them, as he called it.  He had a great sense of humor, and was a stubborn and a very sociable guy. He loved phoning his friends and family to see how everyone was doing and catch up.

Vince developed many friendships over the years and he will be sadly missed.

Wake will be held at the Dakota Tipi Community Hall on Friday, December 29, 2023 beginning at 4:00 pm. Feast and Ceremony will be held on Saturday, December 30, 2023 at noon. Burial to follow at Hillside Cemetery.
