Vernhon Mendoza Mabanglo

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Vernhon Mabanglo, a devoted husband, father, and friend, on January 24, 2025. Vernhon passed away peacefully, surrounded by the unwavering love of his wife and children, who were his greatest joy and purpose in life.

Left to cherish is memory are his beloved wife, Karen Mabanglo; children Simone Lauren, Vianca Kirsten and Kylan Lucas; his parents Alicia Mendoza and Virgilio Mabanglo; siblings Angelica Mabanglo, Justin Mendoza, Vincent Mabanglo, Rona Mendoza, Russel Mendoza, Vernard Mabanglo and Victor Mabanglo; father-in-law Expedito Valmeo. He was predeceased by his sibling Von Mabanglo and mother-in-law Lourdes Valmeo.

Vernhon was the embodiment of love, kindness, and selflessness. He was a man whose heart knew no limits when it came to caring for his family and others. For 22 wonderful years, he and his beloved wife built a life filled with joy, laughter, and unforgettable memories. He was her confidant, her protector, and her best friend—a husband who always placed her feelings and needs above his own. His love for her was steadfast and unconditional, a guiding light in their lives.

As a father, Vernhon was a pillar of strength and compassion. He found his greatest happiness in creating a home filled with warmth, laughter, and security for his children. He celebrated their milestones, encouraged their dreams, and showered them with boundless love. He was their greatest supporter and their constant source of comfort.

Vernhon was a man of many passions. He loved listening to music, often finding peace and joy in its melodies. His enthusiasm for cars was unmatched; his eyes would light up as he talked about his favorite models, sharing his passion with those around him. He was also a talented cook, pouring his heart into every meal he prepared for his family, knowing it was a way to bring them together.

His sense of humor was unforgettable—his jokes and playful nature never failed to brighten the days of those he loved. Vernhon had a remarkable gift for making others feel cared for, always going out of his way to ensure everyone around him felt supported and valued. He had an incredible ability to find joy in life’s simple moments, spreading positivity wherever he went.

Even in the face of illness, Vernhon showed unwavering strength and resilience. He fought tirelessly, driven by his deep love for his family and his desire to stay by their side. His courage and determination were a testament to his selfless and loving nature.

In 2017, Vernhon and his family immigrated to Portage la Prairie, Canada, embracing new opportunities to create a brighter future for their children. Together with his wife, he shared a love for traveling, creating countless cherished memories of adventures filled with laughter, love, and discovery.

A God-fearing man with a kind and gentle soul, Vernhon touched the lives of everyone who knew him. His legacy of kindness, selflessness, and love will forever be remembered.

Vernhon, may you find eternal peace and joy. You were the heart and soul of your family and a light to everyone who knew you. Your boundless love, kindness, and laughter will forever guide us. Thank you for the 43 years of beautiful memories and for showing us what it means to truly love. You will forever live in our hearts. We love you so much.

A time of visitation: A time to share memories and hold each other close, on Saturday February 1, 2025, from 3:00pm – 6:00 pm at McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel.

Mass: A celebration of Vernhon’s faith, love and spirit on Sunday, February 2, 2025, at 3:00 pm at Good Shepherd Roman Catholic Church. The Mass will be recorded and uploaded to this page as soon as it becomes available.

Laying to rest: A final goodbye filled with love on Monday, February 3, 2025, at 10:00 am, meeting at McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel to proceed to the cemetery.
