Valerie (Trudy) Pashe, a beloved mother, grandmother, Sister, Aunt and friend , passed away on March 16, 2023, at her home in Dakota Tipi First Nation, surrounded by her children and grandchildren. Trudy, as she was affectionately known, will be deeply missed by her loved ones and those who knew her.
Trudy was born to Bruce Pashe and Delores Pashe (Merrick) and was one of eleven siblings. She was predeceased by her parents, sisters Roberta, Lois, Valerie, and brothers Arden, Garry, Barry, Gerald, Nephew Sheldon, Niece Roberta as well as her grandson Ashton.
Trudy will be fondly remembered by her siblings Mary (Brian), Cynthia, Cornell (Cathy), Keith, Braden and David, and her children Kevin, Miranda (Robert), Kyle (Kayla), Crystale, Tyler, Aprel, Christian, Nathaniel, and Rudy (Reba). She will be deeply missed by her grandchildren Tyanna, Julian, Lyndon, Savanna, DeAsia, Andrea, Cherish, Matty, Micah, Orion, Edynn, Elynn, Ivannah, Wesley, Jonathan, Joseph (Roberta), Chileo, Justin, Lonnie, Katherine, Samuel, and many great-grandchildren.
Trudy was born on December 11, 1961, in Portage la Prairie, MB, where she grew up and lived most of her life. She walked the red road and was passionate about her history and Dakota way of life. She was a Traditional Medicine Woman who has travelled and helped many people across Turtle Island where she made so many friendships and adopted family. Her favourite place to visit was the Black Hills in South Dakota.
She loved family and all of her grandchildren held a special place in her heart. Not only did she raise her Eight children, but she had also raised many nieces, nephews, grandsons and granddaughters. Trudy loved visiting, talking with friends on the phone, making memories with her children and shopping.
Private wake services will be held at her home on Monday, March 20, 2023. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 21, 2023, at Dakota Tipi Community Hall at 1:00pm. All are welcome to attend.
