Timothy Louis Laramee
With great sadness we announce the passing of Timothy Laramee on Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at Portage la Prairie, Mb at the age of 58 years.
He was predeceased by his parents Louis (1993) and Avonne (1996); brother Ken (2011) and sister-in-law Linda (1982). Tim will be remembered by his sister-in-law Rita Laramee; brother Wayne Laramee of Weatherford, Texas; Kevin (Monique) Laramee of Portage la Prairie, Manitoba and Judy (Glen) Beatty of Medicine Hat, Alberta; nieces and nephews Susan Laramee and Chris (Shelby) Laramee; Leslie Laramee; Daylan Laramee, Jordan Laramee and Nicole Laramee; Meghan Longmore (Sean) and Laurel Beatty.
Tim was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on October 10, 1957. In early childhood years Tim lived in Portage la Prairie, attending Fort la Reine and Yellowquill Schools. The family then moved to Lynn Lake, Manitoba for a couple of years. Tim moved to Wilcox, Saskatchewan to attend Notre Dame where he graduated from grade 12. After graduation Tim worked for his dad in Thompson, Manitoba at the family business. He attended Red River Community College and took his Business Administration Certificate. From there he went on to move to Saskatchewan where he worked for many years before returning to Portage la Prairie to work at the family business Laramee Enterprise until 2004. In 2004 Tim suffered the first of many strokes, which disabled him from continuing to work in the family business. Tim remained a bachelor for his life but he enjoyed family get togethers until ill health prevented him from attending. One of Tim’s passions in life was reading; he had a few first editions books which were his pride and joy. Tim loved reading anything with history and science fiction. In his younger years Tim was an avid hockey player and as he aged he enjoyed the game of golf.
Tim always displayed a sarcastic humour to those who knew him. One could always be guaranteed that if Tim had an idea there was no changing his mind. Plain and simple he was stubborn but all who knew him knew that. With numerous trips to Winnipeg for doctor appointments Tim always had a special request to whoever took him; we had to stop at the Salisbury House for nip and chips.
Tim will be fondly remembered and missed by all who knew him. He is now resting in peace in the arms of his parents.
Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 23, 2016 at 2 pm at McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel led by Wilma Shirriff. Interment will take place at Evergreen Memorial Gardens.
As expressions of sympathy, if friends so wish, donations may be made in Tim’s memory to the Portage District General Hospital Foundation, 524 Fifth St.SE, Portage la Prairie, MB, R1N 3A8.
A tree will be planted in memory and cared for by McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel. 204-857-4021 www.mckenziesportagefuneralchapel.com
