Stephen "Steve" LeBlanc

June 27, 1956 — January 15, 2021

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Steve LeBlanc at the age of 64 years.

Predeceased by his father Jerry, Steve leaves behind his wife Linda; daughter Stephanie Frame (Jamie) and son Michael LeBlanc (Corrie); three granddaughters Nova, Knoxley and Brynlee.  He is also survived by his mother Mary; sisters Jane Smith (Rodney) and Catherine Reiter (Dean); brother Robert; brother-in-law Don Nelson (Joanne) and sister-in-law Gail Klippenstein (Darren) along with several nieces and nephews and his fur baby Gus.

Steve was born in Pembroke, ON, the oldest child of Mary and Jerry LeBlanc.  Being born into a military family he lived many places, even France, as a child but when they were posted to Southport he decided to make Portage his home.

He loved watching any type of sports and with Covid managed to watch ALL the old Grey Cups. For several years he played slow pitch ball, his catches were interesting but he sure had lots of laughs and maybe a few beers.

In 1981 he married his better half, Linda Nelson.  They bought an acreage and raised a daughter and son who were his pride and joy, and then his granddaughters came along.  He was ALWAYS teasing the kids, big and small; he just loved them all so much.

Steve worked as a mechanic for many years but spent the last 20 years at the Oat plant. He made friends everywhere he went.  He only managed to enjoy 2 years of retirement but loved every minute of it.

He loved his visits with Steph, Jamie and the girls, sightseeing or wrestling on the floor, helping Steph with gardening tips or Jamie fix the dish washer AGAIN.

He loved when Michael and the boys would drop in, full of stories or Michael and Corrie would come camp out in the Back Forty. Michael and Dad were always cutting wood or helping each other fix something.

Steve was an easy going guy who loved visiting with family or sitting out at the fire pit, listening to Rez Radio and the coyotes, having a cold one and watching the stars.

Even after 40 years you still made me laugh, you were my best friend.

You left us too soon and we miss you SSOOOOOO much.

Due to Covid 19 restrictions, private family services will be held.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Steve may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Manitoba 1379 Kenaston Boulevard, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3P 2T5 or to Diabetes Canada 401-1 Wesley Avenue, Winnipeg, MB, R3C 4C6.

A tree will be planted and cared for by McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel. www.mckenziesportagefuneralchapel.com 204-857-4021.
