Stephanie Teena Prince
Peacefully on Friday, August 13, 2010 with her family at her side, Stephanie Teena Prince went to be with God at the age of 26.
Left to cherish her memory are her beloved children Mercedes and Angelina; special friend Clayton Flamand; step-children Harmonie, Roxy and Brandon; parents Sheila (Dwight) Aymont and Miles (Sandy) Prince; siblings Jerry (Viktoriya) Prince, Krisha (Randy) Cook and Jamie (Mandy) Prince; sister in-law Dana (Marcel) Pruden; nieces and nephews Crystal, Donovan, Alicia, Jayden, Clarence and Ryder; grandmothers Ella Lavallee, Ann Prince and Margaret Maloney and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was pre-deceased by grandfathers Clarence Hatch (Jiggs), Norman Overton and Dale Maloney and cousins Margaret and Damon.
Stephanie was born on July 5, 1984 in Portage la Prairie where she continued to reside. Stephanie never needed to go far to find happiness in life. She had a loving heart and befriended everyone she met. She always seemed to have a smile on her face and her laughter was contagious. Stephanie got her determination from her mother and her stubbornness from her father; this was obvious in how hard she worked to give her children and step-children a happy home, no matter what life threw at her. And although she was known to be loud and opinionated, those who knew her understood that her passion for what she believed in, is what truly made her special.
As a child, Stephanie loved to make other people happy, although she also had fun tattling on her older brothers and sister. She loved spending time in the country enjoying the outdoors with her family. As she grew older, she looked forward to caring for her nieces and nephews, and was eventually blessed with her own beautiful girls. She was a devoted mother who would do anything for her family, even if it meant going without for herself. Stephanie loved to spend time with her family and friends. When she wasn't visiting she could often be found singing and dancing to her favorite music. Between playing with her kids, reading, and "cruising the Ave.", Stephanie's days were full of happiness. The happiest time of the year for her was always Christmas time. She was always excited to get presents, but her true joy was in giving to others.
Stephanie was a strong, young woman who faced her 14-year illness with great bravery. She never gave up fighting, and we will always remember her for her spirit and her optimism.
Prayers for Stephanie will be held on Wednesday, August 18, 2010 at McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel from 7:00-8:00 pm. Family and friends can join a celebration of her life on Thursday, August 19th, 2010 at 1:00 pm at the Good Shepherd Catholic Church, Portage la Prairie led by Deacon Bill Parrack.
