On the morning of March 20, 2012, Stanley Allan Myerion passed away at home into the Spirit World. Our ancestral family came to take him from his suffering. Stan already lost a part of his physical well being to Diabetes and made the decision not to undergo any further amputation. His decision spoke volumes of maintaining his dignity and courage to stand up to the battle that Diabetes challenged him with. Stan was only 62 years old and had hopes of being able to walk again and visit with friends and family.
Stan was born to the late Christina Myerion and the late Desjarlais (Babe) Nelson. He leaves behind his wife Nora who nursed him 24/7 at home; siblings Tom (Leona), Wilfred (Geraldine), Joey and Judy (Cecil) Mousseau, Glen (Gloria) Nelson, Leslie (Agnes) Nelson, Debra Govereau, Edward, Yvonne and Barbara Nelson, Helen and Mabel Hayden and Trevor (Karen) Bruno. He was predeceased by siblings Gary Myerion, Gary Nelson, Sidney, Mary, Ernest and Roger Nelson and Wayne Gerard. Stan was named after his Uncle Stan Nelson and leaves Uncles Oliver and Richard Nelson. Stan leaves behind his children Meredith Porter, Amanda (Elmer) Myerion, Dennis (Theresa) and Jeff (Lena) Myran. During his illness, Stan had two little friends named Houston (Bubow) and Peanut (Ariana) who were always around him and never allowed strangers to be near him.
His daughter Meredith felt a strong connection to Stan's warmth, intelligence, strength and unconditional acceptance of her and her family in Ottawa. Stan also had seven beautiful grandchildren Noah, Luke, Jonah, Brady, Rae-lynn, Chantelle and Dennison, whom he loved unconditionally. His special cousin Karen (Brad), who loved and took Stan as a brother and whom he had a very special relationship with, always giving strong words of encouragement and love, he nicknamed Karen "Jynx".
Stan was elected Chief of Long Plain First Nation and served his people with the utmost respect, hard work and effort. He attended Residential School in Portage. He also was a Committee Member on the Ratification Committee for the Loss of Use(TLE) for Long Plain First Nation. Stan worked in many different areas, too numerous to mention, where he advocated for the betterment of First Nations People. Stan will be missed immensely by all who walked with him in this life and will always be loved and never forgotten.
Thankyou for your words of comfort, your support and generous donations during this difficult time. It is greatly appreciated ... Mee-gwetch!
