Stanley Christopher Garnham
Suddenly with family by his side, Stanley Garnham, beloved husband of Frances, passed away on Tuesday, June 25, 2013, at his home at the age of 76 years.
He will be missed by his loving wife Frances; children Christine Garnham, Kenneth (Barb) Garnham, Gloria (Ron) Hilton, Bonnie (George) Mazurat, Debbie Steuart, Ricky Garnham and Shelly Garnham; 19 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren; siblings Les Garnham, George Garnham, Amy Lytle, Joyce Lidster, Jimmy Garnham and Muriel Connelly along with a large extended family.
Stanley was predeceased by his parents Alfred and Zella Garnham and siblings Alf, Alvin, Bill, Bob and Ethal Todd.
Stan was born and raised in the RM of Portage. He was a very hard working man from the time he was 15 years old. He was a brick layer and worked in construction and became a self-employed construction contractor. Some of his more memorable jobs were with Monark Construction (flood way), Sigerson (freighting) in northern Manitoba, Meseyton Construction. Stan was a kind and gentle man, the rock of the family. Frances recalls a time when one of Stan’s daughters came to the house and saw some wild flowers in a vase on the table and asked where they came from. Frances told her that Stan and she were driving home from a job when he stopped the truck and went and picked a bunch of flowers and handed them to her. He was a hopeless romantic and Frances’ soul mate.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, trapping, spending many hours at Tim Hortons reminiscing with old friends and looking forward to his cribbage games. He was an amazing husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather and will be missed, never forgotten and always in our hearts.
There will be a time of visitation held on Friday evening, June 28, 2013 at McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel from 7:30 to 8:30 pm. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 29, 2013 at 1:30 pm at McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel, led by Deacon Bill Parrack.
