Shawn Gene Klyne
With family by his side, on Wednesday October 8, 2014, Shawn Gene Klyne beloved husband, father, son and brother passed away following a courageous battle with Leukemia at the Portage and District General Hospital at the age of 35 years.
Shawn was born on April 19, 1979, in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba to Phillippe and Minnie Klyne. Shawn was the youngest of the Klyne boys with his older brothers being Larry, Jeff and Jamie. The relationship and close bond that these four brothers shared was like no other. Shawn resided with his family in St. Ambroise while growing up and received his education at St. Laurent School.
He had numerous close friends growing up and many of those close relationships lasted his lifetime. Shawn married his best friend Becky on October 3, 2009, and together they raised their three children Skylin, Duncan and Jesse. Shawn was a commercial fisherman, a Class 1 Truck Driver, however due to health he was forced to stop working and focus on fighting his battle. Shawn was an outdoorsman, growing up at the Beach in St. Ambroise, helping his dad at Delta Waterfowl and following in his dad’s footsteps of being a professional guide for duck hunting season and keeping his dad’s passion alive. Shawn loved to hunt and this is something him and his brothers would always do together. Although Leukemia was a daily struggle for Shawn, it never stopped him from enjoying the thing he loved the most, spending time with his wife and children, family or friends. He absolutely adored his family, every time his kids would step into the room it showed... either with a little smirk of a smile or he would just outright ask for a hug.
Shawn is survived and will always be remembered by his wife, Becky (nee Turner) and their precious children Skylin, Duncan and Jesse. Lovingly remembered by his mother, Minnie and his brothers (his best friends) Larry (Kellie), Jeff (Tina) and Jamie (Jen) Klyne. Shawn will also be forever remembered by his numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends. Shawn was predeceased by his father Phillippe Klyne, his 3 aunts and 1 uncle, his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Ducharme and Mr. and Mrs. Klyne.
Viewing and visitation will take place on Thursday, October 16, 2014, from 7:00 – 8:00 at McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel. Funeral Service will be held on Friday, October 17, 2014 at 11:30 am at St. Ambroise Roman Catholic Church. Interment will be in the St Ambroise Cemetery followed by the reception.
