Sharon Kennedy

December 23, 1944 — January 21, 2021

We regret to announce the sudden passing of Sharon Kennedy at her home on Thursday, January 21, 2021 at the age of 76 years.

Sharon was predeceased by her loving husband Bill Kennedy on July 31, 2016, parents Pearl and Cecil Jackson and in-laws Marge and Harold Kennedy.

Left to mourn her passing are daughters Lynn (Keith) Anderson of Portage la Prairie, MB and Lori (Carl) Neudorf of Leduc, AB, son Don (Araiden) Kennedy of Oakville, MB, grandchildren Drew, Kaelyn, Brett, Ashleigh, Dustin, Karaleigh, Bradley, Mitchell, Darius and Reanna, great grandsons Owen, Loxsley, Xayvian and Westin, brother Harold (Lynn) Jackson and sister-in-law Alice Grant as well as her faithful companions Maggie and Bandit and many nieces and nephews.

Sharon was born on December 23, 1944 in Portage la Prairie, MB and raised on a small farm near Langruth, MB. Her love of animals continued from the farm to 4-H, where she showed many animals, winning trophies and continuing on as a leader to help other youth with their animals at the fair.

Sharon moved to Oakville, MB where she worked for both MTS and the Red Barn, and met Bill, the love of her life. They were married on November 26, 1966, and together built a home and raised three children.

Sharon’s home and the community of Oakville were her life. If you ever mentioned that you loved pie or cake, you could be sure there would be one on your doorstep by suppertime. Sharon had a love for children, and many Oakville families knew their children would be well cared for in her home, several still think of her as a second mother. Sharon also enjoyed reading, coloring on her iPad and diamond painting.

A private family service will take place at the Oakville Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Sharon’s memory to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 1379 Kenaston Boulevard Winnipeg, MB R3P 2T5 or Central Plains Cancer Services, 318 Saskatchewan Ave. E., Portage la Prairie, MB R1N 0K8.

A tree will be planted in memory and cared for by McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel.  204-857-4021 www.mckenziesportagefuneralchapel.com
