Sharon Lynn Gunn

With deepest sorrow on Wednesday, March 16, 2011, Sharon passed away suddenly in Corpus Christi, Texas with family at her side.
She was predeceased by her brother-in-law Sid and granddaughter Karen. Sharon leaves to mourn her husband and soul mate Don of 35 years; parents Jim and Isabell Lamont; sister Heather (Terry) Skinner and nephews Cole, Riley and Jordie; sister Lori (Gord) Ulrich and nieces Rachel and Renee; blended family members daughters D'Anne (Bill) and Dana (Randy), son Donald (Traci) along with 10 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren; sisters-in-law Gerri (Bill) Mandziuk, Diana (Ernie) Meyers and Shirley Merrett and with their families.
Sharon was born June 9, 1951 in Portage la Prairie and was raised on the family farm in Bagot. She attended Bagot Elementary School and Macgregor High School. Sharon graduated as a Registered Psychiatric Nurse in 1973, retiring in 2006 after 33 years of service.
Don and Sharon spent many happy years traveling and camping. Sharon was a very gifted crafter enjoying crocheting and knitting for family and friends. Her gifts of love were shown through her afghans, sweaters, plus her many baby gifts over the years. These gifts will be cherished forever.
Sharon was a people person who had the ability to understand the needs of others, offering support with care and compassion. She loved and was loved by her extended families in Shady Oaks, Rockport, Texas and Creekside, Portage la Prairie.
A Celebration of Sharon's life will be held on Saturday, April 9, 2011 at 2:00 pm at McKenzie United Church (85 l1th Street NW) led by Rev. Marg Scott.
As expressions of sympathy, if friends so wish, donations may be made in Sharon's memory to Central Plains Cancer Care Services, 318 Sask. Ave.E, Portage la Prairie, MB, R1N OK8 or to Winnipeg Humane Society, 45 Hurst Way, Winnipeg MB, R3T 0R3 or to Portage Animal Welfare Society (PAWS), Box 1426, Portage la Prairie, MB, R1N 3N9.
