With sadness we announce that Sean Meeches began his journey to the Spirit World on August 18, 2023 in Portage la Prairie, MB at the age of 34 years.

Sean will be lovingly remembered by his partner Jocelyn, children Madison, Jayce and Tyler Reid Meeches, his mother Linda Soldier and Siblings Michele Soldier, Chris Soldier, Brendan Meeches, Jayden Meeches, Nelson Bird, Maxine Bird, Mike Meeches, Jon Myran and Clifford Beaulieu, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, especially Nicholas, Aeris and Tayler, extended family members and friends.

Sean was predeceased by his father Rodger Glen Meeches, brother Rodger “Tyler” Meeches and brother-in-law Preston Pashe.

Sean was born in Portage la Prairie, MB, where he lived until moving to Long Plain in 1990. He attended Long Plain School from Nursery School until grade 9, then attended Arthur Meighen High School in Portage la Prairie, MB.

He worked numerous jobs, always close to home, but the one job he was very passionate about was cooking.

He fought through H1N1 in 2014, and later on that year he met Jocelyn.

Everyone knew that his three children were his pride and joy, because that’s all he would talk about. Spending time with his children was all he truly cared about.

Sean made an impact on many people, especially with his contagious smile that was capable of being spread to others. He struggled through many hardships in his life, but now he can be at peace with his Dad and Brother.

Wake will take place at Long Plain Spirit Lodge on Friday, September 1, 2023 beginning at 4:00pm.  Feast and Ceremony will be held at Long Plain Spirit Lodge on Saturday, September 2, 2023 beginning at noon, followed by burial at the Long Plain Cemetery.

A tree will be planted in memory and cared for by McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel.  www.mckenziesportagefuneralchapel.com
