Peacefully, on Saturday, February 10, 2024, our Mom, Grandma, Great Grandma and Aunt passed away with family by her side after a long and healthy life.
Born in Winnipeg, she grew up in Big Point, and went to school there and in Langruth. She moved to Winnipeg to live with her aunt and complete her Grade 12, then decided to stay the summer and attend Teachers College. Come September she went out teaching for 2 years, first at Marshland and Neepawa, and then Lakeland.
Blanche and Art were married on October 27, 1945 and resided on the farm where Art was raised. To this union, two sons were born, Morley in 1947, and Dennis in 1952, while they were in the middle of building a new house.
Blanche was predeceased by her husband Art, parents Hilda and Arnie Johannson, siblings Sigga, Rena, Tom, Louise, Francis and John, and Sigrid’s partner Angus.
Surviving are her brother Robert (Fern), two sons Morley (Laura) and Dennis (Sherrie), one grandson Ian (Heather), great-granddaughters Adalee and Lilija, granddaughters Sigrid, Cheryl (Jason) and Courtenay and great grandson Colby as well as several nieces, nephews and friends.
The family would like to thank Anita and all the staff at Lions Prairie Manor for the care Mom received during her time there.
Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, February 17, 2024 at McKenzie United Church in Portage la Prairie at 1:00 pm. Private interment will take place at Longburn Cemetery.
