Sandra Gail Lamont, born in Portage la Prairie on January 23, 1937, died in Calgary, AB at Agape Hospice on Friday, February 12, 2010 with her family by her side.

Sandra was predeceased by her parents, Peggy and John Owens in 1989 and her brother Michael in 1986. She is survived by her daughter, Lisa Lamont, granddaughter Delaney Lamont-Greene, son Patrick Lamont, and daughter-in-law Wendy Lamont, all of Calgary, AB, brother Kenneth and wife Cathy Owens of Armstrong, BC, sister-in-law Jean Owens of Olds, AB, niece Bonnie Kerr, nephews Monty (Lori) Kerr, Shaun Owens, and Jason Owens and many very good friends.

Mom had diverse careers over her lifetime a�" nurse, travel agent, correctional officer a�" and she enjoyed volunteering with Services for Seniors and Sunset Palliative Care in her retirement. She loved to travel but was equally happy when it was time to return home. Because of this, it came as a pleasant surprise to see how easily she settled in to life in Calgary with her unexpected move this past year. Mom loved spending time with her friends in Portage; gardening, Delta sunsets, her dogs, and Skip Bo games also gave her lots of pleasure. In spite of Mom's failing health, coming together in Calgary gave us all an invaluable opportunity to step back and notice and nurture the things that we most appreciated in our relationships with her. We've had a wonderful time being together, cherishing each day.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, February 19, 2010 at 1:30 pm at Trinity United Church led by Rev. Julie Baker in Portage la Prairie, MB.

Flowers are gratefully declined. If friends so wish, a donation can be made in Sandra's memory to the Sunset Palliative Care Inc., Box 92, Portage la Prairie, MB R1N 3B2 or to a charity of their choice.
