Peacefully on Friday, October 9, 2015 at the Portage District General Hospital, surrounded by her loving family, Sadie Guick passed away at the age 96 years.
Funeral Service will be held at McKenzie United Church, 85-11 th St, NW, Portage la Prairie on Friday, October 16, 2015 at 11:00 am, with viewing prior to service. Rev. Marg Scott officiating. Interment to follow at Hillside Cemetery.
Sadie was born November 19, 1918, daughter of Michael and Maria Bulbuck of Inglis Manitoba, where she was raised and attended school. In 1940 she married Samuel Guick in Portage la Prairie. They had 6 children Leona, Alvin (Charlie), Donald, Robert, Lynne, and Patricia. Mom worked at the MDC from 1968 to 1984 when she retired. Sadie enjoyed family gatherings, cooking, gardening, camping, fishing, bowling, travelling, reading, music and especially playing cards. She was an active member of McKenzie United Church, Prosvita, Herman Prior and MSOS Games. Before moving to Lions Prairie Manor in December 2013 mom resided at Dalton Estates for 10 years. Mom loved the activities offered at the Dalton when her mobility declined.
Loving Mother of Leona (Tom), Alvin (Lorraine), Don (Alice), Bob, Lynne, Pat (Jeff). Cherished Grandmother of Tom Jr, Kelly, Sheri, Kent, Dawn, Shayne, Brennen, Tyler, Marci, Devon, Jordan and Michael. Loved Great Grandmother of Brook, Tara, Brandon, Sage, Lily, Sophie, Jacob, Jordan, Jayden, Parker, Charli, Noah, Ayden, Arthur and Great Great Grandmother to Bree. Sadie is also survived by sisters Verna, Margaret, Eleanor; brother Alex, sister-in-laws Sylvia and Joyce Bulbuck. She is fondly remembered by many step grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins in Ukraine and friends.
Sadie was predeceased by her husband Sam; parents Michael and Maria Bulbuck, sisters Ann, Dora, Rose; brothers Jack, George, James and Ted.
The family would like to Thank Dr. Tan, the staff at Portage General Hospital ICU and Medical wards for their compassionate care and concern for our Mother the last few days of her life.
