Ryan Timothy James Popko
We regret to announce the passing of Ryan Popko on Saturday, April 29, 2017 in Portage la Prairie. Ryan passed away at the age of 31 years.
Left to cherish his memory longtime girlfriend Brittany Sawatzky and expected baby boy Logan; parents Tim Popko and Breega Popko (predeceased in 2007); brother Michael (Wendy) Popko with nephew Brayden and niece Leah, of Grand Prairie, AB; he will also be missed by Karen Sawatzky, Tamara Miller with nephew Brody; Dylan Sawatzky and Jessica Sawatzky, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and childhood friend Kyle Haddad and close friend Jordan Sharpe and many other close friends.
Ryan was born and raised in Portage la Prairie. He had a passion for the construction industry working in Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta operating heavy equipment. He loved spending days and nights in the summer and winter fishing anywhere there was water. Ryan enjoyed snowmobiling, dirt biking, hunting and driving around Portage. He enjoyed being around animals especially his cats. Ryan always prepared great meals for birthdays and was a great cook. He was known to host his friends birthday dinners. Ryan was a caring young man who would help anyone who needed help. He would go out of his way for anyone and everyone. He would always have a big smile on his face and happy to entertain others with his jokes and quick wit.
He will truly be missed by family and friends.
Visitation and viewing will be held at McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel on Friday, May 5, 2017 from 7 pm to 8 pm. Funeral Mass will take place at Good Shepherd Roman Catholic Church on Saturday, May 6, 2017 at 11:00 am led by Father Gerald Langevin.
A trust fund has been created for baby Logan Popko, donations can be made to Scotiabank account #20057 029 1625 in care of Brittany Sawatzky.
