Roy G. Blair
Surrounded by the love of his family, Roy Blair passed away on Friday, May 27, 2016, at the Portage District General Hospital in Portage la Prairie, MB at the age of 66 years.
Amongst his family & friends who are welcoming him into Heaven are his parents, Clinton & Emmie (nee Lambert) Blair, grandson Calan Blair, parents-in-law David and Ella Roy, and his brother-in-law Lauren Roy.
Left to treasure their many memories of time spent with Roy are his beloved wife, Linda (nee Roy), daughter Monica & son-in-law Monty Trimble, grandson Lucas Trimble, daughter Victoria, son James and daughter-in-law Connie, granddaughters Trista, Calli, and Shaylee, and grandson Benjamin. Also left to cherish Roy’s memory are his brother Pat & sister-in-law Hannah, nieces & nephews Chad & Adrienne, Melissa & Ryan, great niece & nephew Ethan and Abby, sisters & brothers-in-law Shirley Roy, Mary Roy, Charles Roy, Darlene Roy, George & Sylvia Roy and Colleen Roy, niece & nephews Heather (Rod) Burte and Christopher Burte. Roy will also be missed by a multitude of extended family, friends and farmers all over southern Manitoba.
Roy loved classical music. As a season ticket holder at the Glesby Centre, he enjoyed many world class performances that Jerry Maksymyk had booked.
Roy was baptized in the Portage Alliance Church. He became a long time member, serving on various committees as a trusted and dependable participant.
In the various shops where Roy worked, fellow workers would hear classical music and know Roy was working close by. He consistently did his very best for each and every one.
Roy had three children of whom he was extremely proud. Their accomplishments always brought a smile to his face. Welcoming a son –in-law and a daughter-in –law to our family meant Roy gained an additional two children the easy way. When Monty was added to the family, it helped add to the male numbers which was greatly appreciated, especially for topics of conversation.
Roy loved his grandchildren. Their hugs were especially appreciated, and he loved their visits.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 2, 2016 in the William Glesby Centre at 2:00 pm, with Wilma Shirriff officiating. Interment to follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens.
As expressions of sympathy, if friends so wish, donations may be made in Roy’s memory to Sunset Palliative Care Inc., 134 Wilkinson Crescent, Portage la Prairie, MB R1N 1A8, Growing Support for Cancer, 1160-675 McDermot Ave, Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9, or to the William Glesby Centre, 11- 2 St NE, Portage la Prairie, MB R1N 1R8.
