It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Rodney Lewis Bradford, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend on October 20, 2024, at the age of 61. He was born on May 3, 1963, in Neepawa, MB to Margaret McLaughlin.
Rodney was a cherished member of a large family, leaving behind siblings Clifford, David, Kenny and Winnie. He was predeceased by his mother Margaret, sister Beverly, brother Elvin, brother Albert Bone, brother Larry Bone and his nephew Keith.
He married his wife, Cecilia Bradford, on May 18, 2001, in Portage la Prairie, MB. Together, they created a warm and loving home filled with laughter and joy. Rodney is survived by his three children, Chantelli, Rodney Jr., and Nadine. As well as his adored grandchildren: Albert, Delainey, Darius, Nathan Jr., Noah, Peyton, Keiran and Noland.
Rodney had a zest for life that was evident from a young age. As a traveler, he would take buses with various bands, assisting with gigs and reveling in the music. He was deeply involved in the lives of his children and grandchildren, always checking in and ensuring they had everything they needed. A passionate barbecue enthusiast, he loved to bring family together over good food and conversation.
A social butterfly, Rodney was known by everyone in Portage La Prairie, and his friends cherished every moment spent with him. He was a true character—hardheaded yet forgiving, with a knack for making any gathering lively. He found great joy in spending time with his best friend, Don Wilkinson, attending hockey games, or simply enjoying sports on TV with a few beers.
In winter, Rodney embraced his love for skidooing, creating memories that will forever warm the hearts of those who knew him. He had a unique taste for snacks, often enjoying Coca-Cola with peanuts or his infamous cayenne pepper in his coffee.
Rodney leaves behind countless wonderful memories and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. He leaves a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished moments that will continue to resonate in the hearts of his family and friends. Rodney loved each of you and wishes you all the best in your journeys ahead.
His family will celebrate his life privately with a burial at Hillside Cemetery.
