With great sadness we announce the sudden passing of Rodger Meeches, of Long Plain First Nation, on Monday, January 18, 2010 at the age of 66 years.
He was predeceased by his son Rodger Tyler Jr., grandson Kyle, parents Toby and Marie-Louise Meeches, brothers William, Jasper and Clifford, sisters Dorene, Betty and Margaret, niece Kelli Vivier and nephew Jeremy Meeches.

He will be lovingly remembered by his beloved wife Linda; sons Nelson, Jonathon, Sean, Brendan, Jayden and Chris; daughters Maxine and Michele; brothers Ted, James, John and George; sisters Elsie, Virginia, Veronica and Loretta and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Rodger was a very loving and generous person, with always a big smile on his face.  He enjoyed visits from friends and relatives.  Rodgers’s hobbies were hunting, watching all sports especially boxing and collecting recipes and cooking.  Rodger always put family first.  He would talk about his children’s accomplishments in life and as well as his nieces and nephews.  Rodger will be missed by everyone that knew him, he was a unique person.

Wake will take place at Long Plain Spirit Lodge on Thursday, January 21, 2010 beginning at 5:00 pm.  Traditional Service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, January 22, 2010 at Long Plain Spirit Lodge.   Interment will be at Long Plain Cemetery with the Feast to follow.
