It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Robert “Bob” Boyachek at the age of 90 years old, on Thursday, October 21, 2021, at the Lions Prairie Manor.
Born on April 30, 1931, Bob leaves to mourn, his wife Ilien Boyachek (nee Vinek), step-children Debbie Gallant (Ken), grandchildren: Breeana and Nathan, Patty White (Brad), grandchildren: Lindsay and Landon, Danny McInnes (Edith), grandchildren: Dustin, Cole and Haley, David McInnes (Valerie), grandchildren: Kaitlyn, Mary and Vincent, as well as, many nieces, nephews and extended members of the Boyachek and Vinek families. Predeceased by: his parents Nick and Lil, brother Frank and sister-in-law Betty, sisters and brothers-in-law: Dorothy and Wes Thompson, Betty and Gus Finnson and Irene Brown.
Robert (Bob) Boyachek, he was a farmer! Bob was very proud of his mixed farming operation in the South Ridge district. Working alongside his dad, Nick and brother, Frank much beef and grain were produced. And in the later years, Bob was so happy to have his nephew Ken Boyachek continue with the family farm.
Bob married Mabel Ilien McInnes on August 9, 1980 and welcomed her 4 children and spouses into his family that day. Through the years, he enjoyed his10 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren on their many visits. Together Bob and Ilien enjoyed making memories particularly through travelling, square dancing and camping.
They took many trips to visit family extending from Bengough to Iowa. Highlights of their travels would have to be, their cruises to the Caribbean and Alaska.
They developed many friends through their square dancing years. This entertainment took Bob and Ilien from Portage, to Carman and just about every small town in Manitoba!
Bob and Ilien found time to camp between seeding and harvest and enjoyed their camper for many years. Camping also involved much golfing and this truly became a love for Bob. He started late in life, but golfed well into his 80’s. Purchasing a golf membership to Southport each year, Bob looked so forward to this season in his retirement. Bob and Ilien ate many suppers at the Southport Golf course, often with family or friends.
Bob also curled for many years and very much enjoyed the fellowship that would surely follow each game.
Special thanks to Cailen Boyachek for sitting with Bob on his final day. Thanks to the staff at the Lions Prairie Manor and the St. Claude Transitional Care Unit for the support and care extended to Bob for the past nine months.
