Robert Clifford Taylor

March 29, 1959 — September 5, 2024

It is with profound sadness that our family announces the passing of our beloved Robert “Rob” Taylor, peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on September 5, 2024.

Born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba; Robert was a man of strength and wisdom, cherishing every moment spent with his family above all else. Robert is predeceased by his parents Clifford and Elizabeth Taylor.

Robert pridefully served as a member of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP). His service extended to detachments throughout Western Canada, beginning his first posting in Surrey, British Columbia (E Division). His last posting was Falcon Lake, Manitoba (D Division), conveniently located close to his second home at Malachi Lake, Ontario. Robert retired with just under 30 years of dedicated service.

Rob’s biggest passion and proudest accomplishment was being a Dad (Ken, Bryce, Sasha) and Grandpa (Quinton, Charlotte, Easton, Claire). The family's cherished Malachi Lake, Ontario home was where they made countless priceless memories playing card games with neighbours, spending time on the dock with the kids, and preparing delicious home cooking.

Robert is survived by his devoted wife and love of his life Kristina, his children Ken (Aricelle), Bryce, and Sasha (Chris) Benson, his grandchildren Quinton and Easton Taylor, Charlotte and Claire Benson, as well as his sister Kathleen Taylor (Graham Babb). He leaves behind his mother-in-law Shannon Tessier (The O’Neil family), Shane (Annik) Bradford and Janey Bradford (Michael Lavallee). Rob is also survived by his nieces and nephews Jarrell (Sydney) Taylor Babb, Florence and Xavier Bradford, Jovie and Taytum Bradford-Lavallee. He will be missed by close friends Cory (Val) Garrard and family, Todd (Jessica) Glasman, Reinhart Schiak, Andre (Tammy) Favreau and family.

We would like to thank the Portage la Prairie (Southern Health) medical team for their exceptional care and support throughout Rob's health journey. We would also like to thank countless extended family and friends who have assisted and supported both Rob and our family throughout the years.

A private graveside service has been held to lay Robert to rest.

Rob’s love for animals was well known to all. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 45 Hurst Way, Winnipeg, MB R3T 0R3 or the Portage Animal Welfare Society (PAWS), 121 12th St. NE, Portage la Prairie, MB, R1N 4A2.

A tree will be planted in memory and cared for by McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel. www.mckenziesportagefuneralchapel.com
