Robert John Hales
Peacefully on Monday, February 15, 2010, Robert John Hales "Bob" of Portage la Prairie passed away in the Portage District General Hospital at the age of 91 years.
Bob was predeceased by his parents William and Katherine Hales and sister Mabel (Clarence) McIntyre. Left to cherish his memories are his son Don (Brenda) Hales of Macdonald, MB; granddaughter Corri (Scott) McAuley of McAuley, MB; grandson Chad (Angie) Hales of Fort McMurray, AB and great grandsons Wyatt and Rhett.
Bob lived all his life in the Longburn area until his failing health had him move to Portage la Prairie in the summer of 2008. He spent his whole life farming and caring for his livestock, a lifestyle he truly loved! He had many special companions he traveled with over the years, none he cherished more than his last one Newton. Bob was a quiet person with a quick wit and was always ready for a good card game. Bob made friends easily and certainly enjoyed the ones he made at Stephens Apartments over the last 18 months.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 20, 2010 at 2:00 pm in McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel led by Wilma Shirriff. A family internment will take place at a later date.
