Robert H. "Bob" Cowie

With family at his side, Bob Cowie passed away on Sunday, October 10, 2010 at the Lion's Prairie Manor at the age of 82 years.

Dad was born and raised in Brandon Manitoba. Upon graduation he worked at various jobs until going CIBC in 1946. He was employed with CIBC for 41 years working at various communities throughout the prairie provinces. At these communities he met many people forming very lasting friendships. In May 07,1955 he married Bernice Meyers, and in the following years were blessed with 3 daughters. Dad was very proud of his three girls and later on his grandchildren and their accomplishments.

Bob was predeceased by his beloved wife Bernice and will be lovingly remembered by his daughters and son-in-laws Karen(Doug) Mintenko, Brenda (John) Chisholm and Lori(Gary) Smith; and grandchildren Quinton(Natasha) and Jason Mintenko, Cari and Robert Smith and Cassandra "Cassie" Chisholm. He will be fondly missed by his sister Muriel Inks, brother Garth (Mary) Cowie, special nephew Ronald Anderson and numerous nieces and nephews and their families.

Dad was an honest, hardworking and patient man. Dad was a true family man. He loved us all endlessly. His happiest times were when we were all together. He especially loved cheering his grandchildren in any sport they played. Many times sitting at the rink watching hockey. He enjoyed golfing, watching TSN, and curling. Curling is especially a fond memory due to the fact he had scored an 8 ender. Throughout the years he belonged to many organizations, such as Fort La Bosse School board, Lions, Elks and the Legion. Dad and Mom enjoyed many vacations together traveling to various destinations with family and friends. These past 5 years have been difficult with Alzheimer and the last few months his battle with Cancer . We truly appreciate all the care, love and assistance he received from Home Care, Regency House and Lions Prairie Manor.

A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, October 14, 2010 at 2:30 pm in McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel led by Rev. Julie Baker. Interment will take place in the Columbarium at Evergreen Memorial Gardens.

As expressions of sympathy, if friends so wish, donations may be made in Bob's memory to Lions Prairie Manor Foundation Inc. 24-9th Street SE, Portage La Prairie, MB, R1N 3V4 or to Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, 21 Royal Road S. Portage La Prairie, MB, R1N 1T8.
