It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of Robert “Buddy” Asham on November 19th, 2024 at the age of 53 years.
Buddy was born on November 2nd, 1971 and was raised in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba. He spent most of his younger years playing hockey, he also enjoyed hunting, being at his cabin and spending lots of time at Winnipeg Beach and Gimli.
Buddy is survived by his beloved family, children Dylan Christian, Garrett Asham (Tamara), Jayda Asham (Randy), Ryder and Drayden; grandchildren Hudson, Orenda, Venus, Amelia, and Mason; siblings Stuart Asham and Jackie Asham; close nieces and nephews Tanisha Nickels, Ashton Asham, Kiersten Asham, Kingston Asham, Raelyn Asham, Bailey McDonald, and Jevon McDonald; as well as many other close family and numerous friends.
He is predeceased by his mother and father Raynard and Linda Asham, brother Lindsay Asham “Little Ray”, lifelong best friend Kelly McKenzie, niece Ashley Asham, nephew Tristan Asham and his dearest friend Virginia Christian who loved him very much.
Buddy was a one-of-a-kind person; he always knew how to make the best out of any situation and was always joking around and making bets. He was a very giving person with a big heart, regardless of his own battles. Some of his favourite things to do as previously mentioned were going to the beach, driving his speedboat, riding motorcycles, gaming and spending time with his family, close friends and also his guard dogs that he had throughout the years. He was very loved and will be greatly missed.
A Celebration of Buddy’s Life will be held at McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, December 4, 2024. Interment to follow at Hillside Cemetery.
