Richard "Rickey" Waddell
Peacefully on Friday, July 21, 2017 Richard (Rickey) Victor Waddell passed away with family by his side in Eastgrove, Manitoba Development Centre at age 55 years.
Rickey was born January 14, 1962 to Victor & Muriel Waddell at Portage la Prairie, Manitoba.
Rickey was the youngest of 6 children and very content. We children were able to give him his first name. Rickey was a great blessing to our family. Rickey was dependent on us for many things; thus Rickey taught us many lessons in life. We learned to be kind; to not be selfish; to think of others and to help those in need. Rickey always had a hug for you and then would push you away. As a child at home Rickey liked to listen to singing & those playing the piano. He loved to go snowmobiling and for car rides. The harder the snow drifts or rougher the road the more he laughed. Rickey liked to play in the old Ford car. Rickey enjoyed water and going to the beach.
At the age of 9 years Rickey attended the Daycare at the Manitoba Development Centre. Then at the age of 10 years on May 23, 1972 Rickey became a resident of the Manitoba Development Centre living in different cottages: Lilac; Poplar; Spruce and Eastgrove.
In Rickey’s earlier days he often came home for the weekend to his parents’ place. Then later on when our parents were older Rickey came home for family gatherings or for the day.
When Rickey’s parents were living they often attended the functions held at the Manitoba Development Centre with Rickey there.
Rickey was predeceased by his parents; father, Victor Waddell in 2003; mother, Muriel Waddell in 2010. Rickey is lovingly remembered by his sister, Betty Ann of Saskatchewan; brother, Terry (Ellen) of Alberta; sister, Kathy of Spain; brother, Bruce of Saskatchewan; sister, Mary-Lee (Brian) of Manitoba; also 4 nieces; 3 nephews; 3 great nieces; 6 great nephews and numerous friends.
The viewing will be prior to the funeral on Wednesday, July 26, 2017.
