Richard Smoke

Peacefully on Friday, July 30, 2021, Richard “Rick” Smoke passed away in Brandon, MB at the age of 65 years.

Left to cherish his memories are his brothers Gerald (Louise), Jeff (Tina) and Ryan, sister Laurene, children Tara (Derek), Candy (Duke), Jeremy, Owen, Teryl, Spencer (Mary), special friend Wanda with her daughters Kristen, Katie, Corrie - who always called him Dad; along with numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren, extended family and friends.

He was predeceased by his parents Lawrence and Marion Smoke, sister Sharon, daughter Selina, nephew Darryl and grandson Konye.

Rick was born in Portage la Prairie and raised at Dakota Plains.  He attended school in Rossendale and MacGregor.  He loved watching sports and played hockey, baseball, fastball and pool.  He worked as a school bus driver for a number of years, along with being a Band Councilor and maintenance man for DOTC housing.  He also loved visiting with friends and family and especially his grandchildren.  Rick will be missed by all.

Viewing will take place at McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, August 4, 2021 from 6 pm to 8 pm.  Funeral service will be held at McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel on Thursday, August 5, 2021 at 1 pm, burial will follow at Dakota Plains Cemetery.
