Irene "Renee" Joyce Elizabeth Bowman

With great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Renee Joyce Elizabeth Bowman on Saturday, May 5th, 2012 at the Portage District General Hospital at the age of 82 years.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband Raymond Scott Bowman, parents Ida and Charles Austin, son Ray, and brother Fred Austin.
Left to cherish her memory are Donna Bielak, Sherry Chard, and Jane Gosse of Cambridge, Ontario, Scott Bowman of Portage la Prairie, David (Debbie) Bowman of Airdrie, Alberta, Joni Bernard of Portage la Prairie, Jani (Terry) Witoski of Portage la Prairie, Jacki (Jim) Leafloor of Winnipeg and James (Angela) Bowman of Winnipeg. She will be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren: Marla, Jeremy, Michael, Jonathon, Kassandra, Ashley, Becky, Edward, Vicky, Jessica, Rachel, Joshua, Chrissy, Mike, Rick, Charmaine, Jaimie and Travis. She will also be missed by numerous great-grandchildren, nephews and nieces. She is survived by siblings: Jack (Dorothy) Austin, William (Shirley) Austin, Fran (Dan) Weatherby, Carole (Ralph) Peddle, and Bonnie (Ted) Wroblewsky.
Renee was born in Hespeler, Ontario on September 23, 1929. In 1955 she traveled to Calgary and worked at the Sunnyside hatchery, where she met her love, Raymond. They started their family there and then moved to a farm south of Portage la Prairie in 1957, where they continued to grow their family. After moving into Portage in the early 70's Renee worked as an ambulance attendant with St John's ambulance and later as a Nurse's Aid at the Lion's Prairie Manor for many years. She was known for her love of storytelling, and her sense of humour. She loved crossword puzzles, knitting, jigsaw puzzles, crocheting and going for coffee with her husband. She will be greatly missed and remembered.
Mass of the Christian Burial led by Celebrant Rev. Eric Giddins will be held on Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at 11:00 am at Good Shepherd Roman Catholic Church. Renee will be laid to rest in the family plot at Evergreen Memorial Gardens.
