Raymond John Beck

Raymond Beck passed away on Sunday, January 26, 2014 at the age of 79 years.  Raymond was born in Portage la Prairie on November 29th, 1934.  He was predeceased b y his parents John and Edith Beck as well as his sister, Clara Thompson and his brother Leslie.  Raymond followed with great interest the lives and families of his siblings: Glen & Kathie Beck and Donald Beck & Alyce Harris, Margaret Richardson & Jim Jones, Sandi & Lee James and June Stewart & Harry Sutcliffe. Raymond is survived by many nieces, nephews, their spouses and was a Great Uncle to their children.  He had a particular fondness of all the little ones and enjoyed hearing about them.

Raymond faced many challenges in life but always faced them with good humour and generosity toward others.  Raymond spent many years on a farm near Portage la Prairie as well as in the City.  He lived at MDC from age 45 to the present.  He enjoyed many activities and trips to experience new things.  He particularly loved animals and was attracted to all kinds of music. We wish to express our sincere thanks to the Staff at MDC for their kindness, warmth, and superb care of Raymond over so many years.  Raymond regarded the MDC as his extended family and referred to it as “home”.

Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service led by Reverend Ron Siemens will be held on Thursday, January 30th, 2014 at 1:30 p.m. in the Aspen Worship Centre at the MDC followed by a reception. Interment will occur at Hillside Cemetery.

As expressions of sympathy, if friends so wish, donations may be made in Raymond’s memory to Lake Manitoba Camp Legacy Inc., P.O. Box 1532, Portage la Prairie, MB, R1N 3P5 or to a charity of choice.
