Peacefully on Thursday, October 13, 2011, Percy Beck passed away at Lions Prairie Manor at the age of 90 years.

Percy was predeceased by his wife Alice, daughter Barbara and brother Trevor. Left to mourn his passing are his sons: Grant (Marjan) and their children Keith (Tracey), Calvin, BJ and Lisa; Bob (Mary) and their children Curtis and Dana; brother Sid (Patsy) and nieces and nephews.

Percy was born in Winnipeg, and moved with his family at the age of one to Portage la Prairie, where they purchased a farm in the Salem district. He farmed most of his life with his brothers Trevor and Sid, until his eldest son Grant gradually took over the farming operation. He married Alice Goldsborough on November 18, 1950, and together they raised three children. Dad was a self-taught electrician, who helped many neighbors with electrical projects, as well as the guy called on when furnaces weren't working. He enjoyed playing and watching baseball, especially watching the World Series. He was also an avid hunter in his younger years, and had many stories of hunting trips with his brothers and neighbors, primarily hunting deer. Both he and Mom were very involved in the community, helping out whenever needed as community and neighbors were very important to both of them. Dad enjoyed watching birds, especially Chickadee's, who would come and eat out of his hand. Where ever Dad went, you knew he would always have a stash of Jelly- beans tucked away in some pocket or other. Until the end, Dad continued to have a great sense of humor. The family is very grateful for the wonderful care Dad received, while living at The Lions Prairie Manor.

A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, October 19, 2011 at 1:00 pm at McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Percy's memory to Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, 21 Royal Road S., Portage la Prairie, MB, R1N 1T8 or Canadian Diabetes Association, 200 a�" 310 Broadway, Winnipeg, MB R3C 0S6.
