After a short illness, Patsy Beck passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 10, 2020 at the Portage District General Hospital at the age of 77 years.
Patsy was predeceased by her dance partner Sid Beck (2014); son Douglas (1973) and parents Howard and Dorothy Braden.
Left to cherish Patsy’s memory are her son Patrick (Gayle) Beck; precious granddaughter Kenzi; beloved pet Cuddles; granddog Ivy; siblings Howard (Gayl) Braden and Bev (Art) McGovern; Tanya, Bradlee and Alex who helped her out with things and whom became good friends with in the last few years of her life. She will also be deeply missed by her lunch gang on Wednesday at Chicken Chef, extended family and friends.
Patricia was born January 23, 1943 in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba toHoward and Dorothy Braden. Patsy received her education from East and West Nairn School. She moved to Creston, B.C. with her parents in 1955 and graduated from Creston High School in 1960.
On October 23, 1965 she married the love of her life, Sid Beck and they farmed south of Portage for many years. In June of 1974, they welcomed their son, Patrick Beck. In 2012, Patsy and Sid sold the farm and moved into Portage. Patsy had several medical issues with Diabetes being her number one enemy, she had this since she was 13.
Patsy worked at Crescent Heights Grocery and the Portage Mutual. Patsy and Sid were very active with Pairs & Squares Dances, West-End Hall Old Time dance. Besides dances Patsy enjoyed plants and gardening which lead her to join the Portage Horticultural Society (PDHS Garden Club).
Her passions in life were her granddaughter Kenzi, her dog Cuddles and of course her love of flowers and gardening. Besides gardening, hobbies included scrap booking, her love of cute teddy bears, collection of cats, dolls and spoons.
A private family service will be held with interment to follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens.
