Oliver Grantham
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Oliver Grantham at the Portage District General Hospital on Wednesday, August 21, 2013 at the age of 71 years.
Oliver was predeceased by his son Les in 2012; father Leslie in 1954; step father Sam Towle; sisters Brenda and Faye. He was a loving son, father and grandfather; he will be missed by his mother Sadie; his children Nadine, Wendy (Mike), Tammy (Ramsay) and grandchildren Kyle, Keith and Kory.
Granny, as he was known by his school chums, was born in Portage la Prairie on June 7, 1942. During his early working years Ollie, as he was known by his family, worked as a mechanic which relocated his family to various Northern Communities. In 1978 the family moved to Fort McMurray, AB, where he worked as an instructor and department head at the local Community College until his retirement in 1991. In 1998 he moved back to Portage where he resided until his death.
A graveside service will take place on Thursday, August 29, 2013 at Hillside Cemetery. Friends and family are asked to gather at McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel at 10:45 am to proceed to the cemetery.
As expressions of sympathy, if friends so wish, donations may be made in Oliver’s memory to the Residence Council of Regency House, 164 5th Street S. E. Portage la Prairie, MB R1N 3P9.
