“Forever Standing”
With sadness we announce that Nick Kequahtooway began his journey to the spirit world on April 23, 2023 at Long Plain First Nation at the age of 29 years.
Nick will be lovingly remembered by his children Tiara, Neeko and Aviannah, mother Judy, father Ross, siblings Jason (Crystal), Sterling (Michele), Craig, Laura, Ross Jr. (Melissa), Austin (Holly), Lauretta and Hunter (Kimberly), aunties and uncles Tedd and Sharon, Karen, Ruth “Miss Kitty”, Linda, Doreen, Peggy, Bonnie and Pauline as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents Harvey and Laura, paternal grandparents Thomas and Marie, aunts Gladys and Donna and uncles Harry, Mervin, Harvey Jr., Ron, Wesley, Bruce and Dean.
Nick was a jack of all trades – and never said no to anyone who needed help with construction or fixing cars. He loved spending time with his family, and his greatest love was spending time with his kids. Nick was always smiling and joking around, and he was always happy when he could be helping someone. Nick was a quiet, humble man who enjoyed spending his time outdoors… characteristics he had in common with his Mushum Thomas and his Grandpa Harvey. There are no words to explain how big a role Nick played in the lives of those who love him and how much he will be missed.
Wake will take place at Long Plain Spirit Lodge on Wednesday, May 3, 2023 beginning at 4:00 pm. Feast and Ceremony will be held at Long Plain Spirit Lodge on Thursday, May 4, 2023 at noon, followed by burial at Long Plain Cemetery.
A tree will be planted in memory and cared for by McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel. www.mckenziesportagefuneralchapel.com
