Peacefully, on Friday, January 3, 2025, Nelson Woods began his journey to the Spirit World in Long Plain First Nation at the age of 79 years.
Nelson was predeceased by his parents, George and Barbara Woods, thirteen siblings, and son Geordie.
Left to mourn his passing are his children Derek, Andrea (Marcel) and Adrienne (Dean), 10 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, common-law partner Judy and her 3 children, 7 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren and brother Faron, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Nelson was born in Long Plain on August 7, 1945. He attended both Birtle and Brandon Residential Schools at a young age. He was a self-taught mechanic, artist, carpenter and hunter, a CN Railway worker and an avid golfer. He will be missed by all those who loved him.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 8:00pm on Wednesday, January 8, 2025 at McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel. Private funeral services will be held with burial to follow at Woods-Myran Cemetery.
