With sadness we announce the passing of Neil Craig Brown on March 19, 2025 at the age of 55 years.
Left to cherish his memory are his children Lisa (Ryan) Stevenson, Lucas (Larissa) Brown and Jaxson Brown; sisters Rose-Marie Garnham, Beverly Carlson and Kim (Don) Chipman, nieces and nephews Angie (Scott), Kaliegh (Paul), Stacy (Keith), Travis, Troy, Alexandra, Mitchell, Jonah and Aaron, aunt Sheila and uncle Clifford; along with numerous relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, mother Ida Mae Brown (Vivier) and father John “Jack” Richard Brown, siblings John “Chick” Brown and Elizabeth “Feef” King.
Craig was born April 14, 1969 in Portage la Prairie, MB. Growing up, he enjoyed riding bikes with his siblings until the streetlights came on, swimming out at Delta Beach in the summer and playing around at the Island Park. He also enjoyed being outside playing street hockey, basketball and baseball, always wanting to be active and doing something.
His winter joys included making snow forts, sledding, skating, snowmobiling, snowball fights, and watching all the old Christmas holiday movies with the family. He was also into boxing as a young adult.
Craig always gravitated towards working on vehicles. He aspired to own a mechanic shop to restore old muscle cars. He was adventurous, loved the outdoors and loved joking around with his siblings, kids, nieces and nephews.
Though the loss of Craig has arrived sooner than it should have, we will remember him for all that he was – a son, a brother, a dad, an uncle, a cousin and a friend.
A celebration of Craig’s life will be held at McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel on Saturday, April 12, 2025 at 1:00 pm followed by a reception and time to share memories. Private interment will take place at Hillside Memorial Park.
As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made in Craig’s memory to the Bruce Oake Recovery Centre, bruceoakefoundation.com.
A tree will be planted in memory and cared for by McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel. www.mckenziesportagefuneralchapel.com
