Morley Herbert Smith
“Cott” "Strong Bear"
On Wednesday, May 6, 2015, after a lengthy illness, Morley Smith passed away at the Portage District General Hospital at the age of 68 years. Morley was born in MacGregor on April 7, 1947.
Predeceased by his mother Margaret Ann Smith; father John Smith; siblings Walter Smith, Mary Smith, Lorna Smith; son Jason Wescoup and nephew Vincent Smith.
He leaves to mourn, his wife Louise Richard; children Christopher, Benjiman, Patricia (Darius Choken) and grandson Darius Jr. from a previous marriage, Richard (Katherine), Leonard, Raymond and his special grandchildren Ryan, Corey, William, Kerri and Kelly Perswain and Jordan Elsley. Children he raised as his own; David Neil Perswain, Geraldine, Marjorie (John), Joyce (Albert) and Pamela Perswain. Also numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Morley was employed on numerous farms in the MacGregor and Carberry area and worked for a couple of years with Arrowhead security on the Long Plain Reserve. He loved hunting and especially loved spending time with his grandchildren laughing and telling jokes.
Wake services will begin on Thursday, May 7, 2015 at 8:00 pm at the Long Plain Spirit Lodge. Christian service and feast will take place on Saturday, May 9, 2015 beginning at noon followed by interment at the MacGregor Cemetery.
