Mildred Smith

(nee Bullock)

1924-2016

With Great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Mildred Smith with her family by her side on June 29, 2016.

Left to treasure her memory are her loving husband of 67 years Donald, her sons Rodney (Jane), Byron (Alana) and Calvin, granddaughters Dawn (Jay), Christa and Rebecca, great-granddaughters Ryleann, Macie and Avelynn.  Millie will also be missed by her brother Lodge (Ivy), sister Rose, sister-in-law Betty Bullock and  godson Randy Bullock as well as numerous nieces & nephews.

Millie was predeceased by her infant son Bradley, as well as brothers and sisters Nick, Sam, Annie, Minnie, Elsie, Vera and Betty.

Millie was born on December 31, 1924 in Portage la Prairie.  It was in the mid-forties that she moved to Winnipeg.  She married her husband Don on a cold and windy day on February 12, 1949.

Mom loved to bake, knit and work in the garden.   Her baking was second to none.  Bowling and horseshoes were past times she enjoyed.

She dedicated herself to her family while they were growing up in Winnipeg.  She and Don enjoyed 10 years of travelling to Mesa to escape our winters.  In 2000 they moved to Poplar Point.

Our family would like to send our sincere thanks and gratitude to Dr. Kim, all staff on ETU and Medical Wards at Portage District General Hospital.

Memorial Service will be held at St. Mary’s Anglican Church on Tuesday,   July 5, 2016 at 1:00 p.m., with Rev. John Doloff officiating.

As expressions of sympathy, if friends so wish, donations may be made in Millie’s memory to Sunset Palliative Care Inc, Box 92, Portage la Prairie, MB, R1N 3B2.

A tree will be planted in memory and cared for by McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel.  204-857-4021 www.mckenziesportagefuneralchapel.com
