Mildred Hay

January 6, 1925 — July 8, 2016

Mildred Royal Hay

Peacefully on Friday, July 8, 2016, Mildred Hay passed away at the Lions Prairie Manor at the age of 91 years.

Predeceased by her husband Frank Hay; parents Thomas and Mable Lamb and sisters Hazel Allan and Dorothy Jones.  Left to mourn are her children Diane (Ross) Craddock of Abbotsford, BC and Patricia (Wade) Lundstrom of Portage la Prairie, MB; grandchildren Melissa (Steve) McHugh and James Craddock; great grandchildren Tyler, Jessica and Ryan McHugh.

Born and raised in MacGregor she lived most of her life there.   Mildred and her husband Frank were very active in the community and church all the years they resided there.    Her great love of music was a force throughout her life and was reflected in her singing in the community choirs and assisting with theatre.   She shared an interest in all sports with her husband Frank and they would travel to Florida to watch spring training and were able to see their nephew Todd Simpson play NHL hockey there.     Hockey was of great interest as Frank had played professionally and the Dryden side of her family roots had Ken and Dave Dryden and Sil Apps as influences.    As librarian at the MacGregor High School she took great interest in the students and always made special efforts to provide guidance and strove to help make them successes in the future.   Her caring and congenial manner never faltered and she was always able to see the best in people.    Mildred was truly shaped by her time of birth and early harsh years on the prairies.  Mildred was dedicated to her family and took great pride in her children, grandchildren and great grand children, whose pictures were always in full evidence:  they will miss her greatly.

Funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 14, 2016 at the MacGregor United Church at 1:00 pm followed by a reception at the Heartland Multiplex.
