With great sadness we regret to share the passing of our beloved Michelle on Friday, July 21, 2017, at the age of 71 years.
Michelle was predeceased by her parents Rita Lacerte, Ernest and Hélène Desjardins/Wood, her sister Renée Lalancette, her nephew Nicolas Lalancette and her brother Gilles Lalancette.
She was the caring mother of Lysa Freeman and special “Grandmaman” to grandson Colby Freeman of Moncton, NB. She will also be sadly missed by her devoted cousin Jocelyne Desjardins, nephews Patrick and Phillippe Simard and many good friends.
Michelle was born in Grand’Mère, QC and later moved to Oxford, NS. In 1981 her teaching career brought her to Portage la Prairie, MB, which she made her home. Upon her retirement in 2004 she renewed her love and interest in art. Michelle found painting a rewarding and humbling experience. She was genuinely delighted when one of her paintings sold…to grace someone’s home with her artwork was very special to her. She loved gardening, was an active member of the Children’s Wish, Prairie Ripples and her church. Michelle loved to laugh and truly cared for others.
Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, July 27, 2017 at the Good Shepherd Roman Catholic Church at 1:00 pm.
