Michael John Kupybida

Peacefully at the Portage District General Hospital on Wednesday, August 31, 2016 Michael passed away with his loving wife by his side, at the age of 71 years. The son of Steve and Lillian Kupybida, Michael was born at the Portage District General Hospital on September 20, 1944.
He is survived by his wife Louise of 42 years and his daughter Pamela (Alan) Wall of Portage la Prairie and grandsons Brandon and Sean Moore and Nicolas and Rhett Wall of Portage la Prairie. Michael is also survived by brothers Edward (Joan) Kupybida of Campbell River, B.C. and Don (Dale) Kupidy of Kelowna, B.C. and brother-in-law Alex Mikolasek (Theresa-deceased) of Morden Manitoba as well as many nieces and nephews.
Michael was employed with the Department of Transport as a Flight Service Specialist and Meterologist for 30 years in various locations, but primarily in North Battleford, Saskatchewan. After retirement in 1996 Michael went on to enjoy part-time work as a shuttle driver for Ulmer Chev Olds in North Battleford, Saskatchewan. In 2002 Michael and Louise moved back to his home town of Portage la Prairie, Manitoba and started driving shuttle for Portage Chrysler Toyota for 12 years. Michael enjoyed taking long walks along our Crescent Lake taking many pictures of nature along the way.
Thank you to Dr. Gray and Dr. Finney as well as all the medical staff on the surgical ward at PDGH for all their love and care. A private interment will take place at a later date.
