Peacefully on Monday, June 9, 2014, with family by his side, Mervin Peters, entered into the Spirit world at the Portage District General Hospital at the age of 71.

Mervin was predeceased by his parents, Harvey Sr. in 1996 & Laura Peters in 1999; sisters Donna & Geraldine Peters; brothers Harvey Jr. Harry, Lawrence & Pete.

He leaves to mourn his children, Garnet (Connie) Meeches, Kelly Meeches (Stephanie), Natalie (Nana) Meeches (Doug), Annette Meeches, Delmar Peters, Farrell (Wanda) Cameron; sisters, Linda (Eric), Gladys, Doreen Ouellette (Joe), Peggy, Bonnie, Pauline & Judy; special niece Kim Vivier; special friend Harriet McIvor and children; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Mervin worked at various jobs throughout his life including, the Militia, Thompson Mine, CP Rail/Extra Gang, Faurschau Farms, Campbell Soup Mushroom Plant, Henry Bros. Farm and was a heavy equipment operator at Long Plain First Nation.

Viewing will take place on Thursday, June 12 from 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm at McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel.  Traditional Feast and Service will take place on Friday, June 13, 2014 at 11:00 am at the Long Plain Spirit Lodge.  Interment to follow at the Long Plain Cemetery.
