With sadness we announce Melvin Douglas Prince passed away on November 30, 2023 in Portage la Prairie at the age of 76 years.

Left to mourn are his children Melvin (Lacey), Michelle, Crystal (Mitchell), Faye (Brent); step-daughter Wendy Ross; 30 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter; brothers Simon, George, Peter, Shane and Kyle; sisters Yvonne, Yvette, Stephanie and Sandy; special niece Margaret Flett; special friends Andrew McIvor and Fred Moose as well as numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.

He was predeceased by his wife Helen Prince; father Rufus Prince; mother Doreen Prince (Longclaws); brothers Steve, Dennis and Larry; sister Jean and nephew Kirt.

Doug was very outspoken, hardworking type of guy.  He worked at Faurschou Farms for about 40 years.  He enjoyed spending time with his family, watching his cowboy shows and sitting around outside enjoying the weather and view.

Wake will take place on Monday, December 4^th, 2023 at the Long Plain Spirit Lodge beginning at 4:00 pm.  Feast and Ceremony will take place on Tuesday, December 5, 2023 at noon. Burial to follow at the Prince Family cemetery.
