Mary Ann Catagas (Longclaws)
"Warrior-Woman"
Peacefully with family at her side Mary Ann Catagas passed into the spirit world on Friday, December 23, 2011 at the Health Science Centre, Winnipeg at the age of 63 years.
Left to cherish her memory are her sons Robert Catagas, Joseph (Rena) Catagas, Aaron Wapash and Anders (Samantha) Wapash; 10 grandchildren; one great granddaughter; many foster children; siblings Josephine Longclaws, Jimmy James Longclaws, Clements Longclaws and Shirley Ann Longclaws and their families. She was predeceased by her parents John and Jessie Longclaws, siblings Walter Longclaws, Phillip Longclaws, Johnny Longclaws, Phyllis Longclaws and Lillian (Edward) Roulette.
Mary Ann was a loving mother of four sons, caring grandmother of 10 grandchildren, great grandmother of one and a foster mother to many. No matter what the situation she would always put others before herself, she would always take time to pray for those who were lost, needing guidance in their traditional ways. She always spoke her mind and when she did it was to the point but with compassion in her words.
Wake will be held on Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at 1:00 pm at the Long Plain Spirit Lodge. Traditional Feast and Funeral will follow on Wednesday, December 28, 2011 beginning at 1:00 pm in the Long Plain Spirit Lodge.
